Countertop Materials

Once you’re ready to take the next step with your project with us, we will send you a list of our preferred vendors so that you will be able to look at countertop slabs in person, and pick out your dream countertop for your bathroom, kitchen or bar. Below are material options, as well as styles for you to gather some inspiration from.

Quartz Countertop Options

Quartz is a manufactured stone. It is harder, less porous and more durable than granite. There is a wide variety of custom styles to choose from.

Granite Countertop Options

Granite is a natural and very durable stone. The material does require annual sealing, but permanent seal is an option.

Keep These In Mind…

Countertop Edge Profiles

There are a variety of edge profiles to choose from when it comes to your new granite or quartz countertop. Our relationship with our stone vendors allows us to customize your new countertops even further.

Countertop Thickness

The most popular and readily available thickness of granite and quartz countertops in the Midwest is 3cm (1-1/8” to 1-1/4”).

Quarts & Granite Finishes

There are a few different types of aesthetic finishes for stone. A honed finish is most similar to a matte finish, meaning there is no shine but it still has a smooth feel. Brushed and suede are textured finishes. Applying a different finish besides polished can make the stone more porous. For example, a slab that has already been polished can be honed, but texture cannot be added. You would need to select slabs with the finish already applied, and we can help you with that during the design phase of your build with us.

Countertop Backsplash

Countertop Backsplash sits on the wall between your countertops and cabinetry, protecting your wall from spills and stains in the kitchen. The type of backsplash is completely up to you, and you can decide to go with a backsplash or none at all. A standard backsplash is four inches, but please ask about a custom height if you’re interested. Having no backsplash allows you to have a seamless transition between your wall and countertop.

Below are examples of what a standard backsplash vs. no backsplash looks like.

Wood & Butchers Block Countertop Options

Wood or Butchers Block countertops provide functional, warm and natural work areas in your kitchen or bar. The surface is durable, but requires maintenance and care to not damage it.

Recycled Glass Countertop Options

Glass countertops are handcrafted from recycled glass. The surface is durable, but the material binding the glass may etch. We recommend resealing your recycled glass countertops once a year.
